Béziers is a city located in the south of France, in the Occitanie region, where Armissan is also located. It is located along the Orb River and is known for its historic architecture, wine production and bullfighting tradition. Béziers has a long history dating back to Roman times, and many landmarks and monuments bear witness to this rich past. The most notable of these is the Pont Vieux, an ancient bridge that spans the Orb and has been in use since the 12th century.
Another remarkable landmark is the Saint-Nazaire Cathedral, which is an impressive Gothic structure built in the 13th century. It features beautiful stained glass windows and intricate stonework. Béziers is also known for its wine production, and there are many vineyards and wineries in the surrounding countryside. The local wine, known as “Béziers rouge”, is a red wine made from a blend of grapes grown in the area.
Finally, Béziers is known for its bullfighting tradition that dates back to the 19th century. The city hosts several bullfighting events throughout the year, including the Feria de Béziers, which is held every August and is one of the largest bullfighting festivals in France.
