Lotza takes you on a journey to Bilbao in this original work. Discover the Guggenheim Museum and the majestic sculpture of a 10-meter high spider, called Maman and signed by Louise Bourgeois. The work refers to Louise Bourgeois’ mother whom she lost at the age of 21 and the ties she had with her.
Don’t worry, this spider is harmless!
Bilbao is the main city of the Spanish Basque region, located in northern Spain. It is the capital of the province of Vizcaya and is located on the banks of the river Nervion. The city is an important economic and cultural center of the region, and is also a stopover for travelers visiting the Basque Country.
Bilbao is famous for its modern architecture, especially for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, an iconic building designed by American architect Frank Gehry, which was inaugurated in 1997. It is considered one of the most important contemporary art museums in Spain. There are also other museums, such as the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts and the Fundacion de Bellas Artes Museum of Modern Art, which house works by local and international artists.
Bilbao is also famous for its gastronomic culture, including tapas, fresh fish dishes and local wines. The city is also known for its traditional festivals and celebrations, such as the Semana Grande de Bilbao, a popular summer festival celebrating Basque culture.
