Illustrator Lotza‘s postcard depicts New York‘s iconic Brooklyn Bridge. This steel suspension bridge, which connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan over the East River, is one of New York City’s most famous symbols.
Built in 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge was at the time the longest and highest suspension bridge ever built. It was designed by German engineer John Augustus Roebling and completed by his son Washington Roebling after his father’s death. The bridge is nearly a mile long and its main tower is 276 feet high.
The Brooklyn Bridge has played an important role in the development of New York City and has been used to transport goods and passengers for over a century. Today, it is primarily used for the transportation of cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
New York is a city known for its dynamism and cultural diversity. It is considered one of the world’s most influential cities for business, culture, education and tourism. Famous attractions in the city include the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park and of course, the Brooklyn Bridge.
