Postcard Néfertiti
2,50€
This beautifully illustrated poster by Lotza highlights the timeless beauty of Nefertiti, one of the most iconic queens of ancient Egypt. Nefertiti lived over 3300 years ago, during the 18th Dynasty, and is best known for her legendary beauty. She was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten and mother of six of his children, including Tutankhamen.
Nefertiti also played an important role in the religious revolution of ancient Egypt, supporting her husband in his attempt to replace the traditional polytheistic cult with the worship of a single god, Aten. Her name means “the beautiful one has come” and she was celebrated for her beauty and intelligence.
The bust of Nefertiti, discovered in 1912 by the German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt, is considered one of the most important masterpieces of Egyptian art and is exhibited in the Neues Museum in Berlin. This bust, which was made of stucco and painted by hand, is remarkable for its great realism and finesse. It has become a symbol of the beauty and sophistication of Egyptian art, as well as the fascinating story of this legendary queen. Maybe you also know Cleopatra and Hatshepsout ?
