The Piton de la Fournaise, located on Reunion Island, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It is often considered as one of the natural wonders of the planet. This majestic mountain, over 2,600 meters high, is shaped like an almost perfect cone and is surrounded by a landscape of green hills.

Piton de la Fournaise is a shield volcano, which means that it is formed by many layers of lava flows that have accumulated over time. It first erupted about 500,000 years ago and has had hundreds of eruptions since then. The last major eruption took place in 2021 and attracted many visitors who came to admire the spectacle.

Reunion Island, where Piton de la Fournaise is located, is a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean. It is an incredibly beautiful place with a wide variety of landscapes ranging from fine sandy beaches to steep mountains to lush tropical forests. The Piton de la Fournaise is one of the main tourist attractions of the island and offers a spectacular view of the surrounding area.
