Who Run the World ? Girls! This illustration by Lotza pays tribute to Maria Teresa de Filippis, the first woman to compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1958. At a time when women were rarely allowed in motorsports, she managed to break the barriers and enter the male-dominated world of F1. De Filippis began her career as a touring car driver in Italy, before receiving a surprise invitation from the Maserati team to compete in the Monaco Grand Prix. Despite a slow qualifying time, she managed to qualify for the race and finished in a respectable 10th place. Her F1 career was short, but she paved the way for many other female drivers to follow in her footsteps. This illustration of Lotza is a tribute to this pioneer and an inspiration to all women who seek to break into male-dominated fields. Girl Power!
